Not Feeling the Rushes

Just a thimble full of thought...

I have watched the 'generated' sales from Rushes and I don't feel them. I will say that I believe that one buyer might have panicked and picked up quite a bit of jewelry the day before one Jewelry Rush was scheduled to occur.

Maybe that's where the Rush comes into play... they rush to buy it before it sells during a time that the buyer won't be online to get a deal. If so... than the Bonanza team is one step ahead (as always)on the competition and that's a great thing.

Just thinking inside the box, while Bonanza thinks outside of it for us.

Online marketplace Bonanzle has continued to build its base of buyers and sellers, with membership growing 18% in just the past 6 weeks, standing now at 236,000 registered users. Popular with small online and eBay sellers, the site will turn two in June. Bonanzle receives 1.5 million unique visitors a month and has close to 20,000 active sellers responsible for a total of just under 3 million listings.

Bonanzle employs four people, including founder Bill Harding. That is, if you don't include the users. Spokesperson Mark Dorsey said the company receives tremendous support from the community, from reporting fake items to spreading the word about Bonanzle. Mr. Dorsey said that, based on the site's growth, the company would definitely be adding designers and programmers in the future.

In October, Bonanzle launched an API in beta that allows third-party developers to provide services and tools for buyers and sellers; it remains in development. The biggest priority for Bonanzle, according to Mr. Dorsey, is making sure buyers have a good experience and come back again to the site. Helping with that is a new order resolution center that allows buyers to open up cases with sellers with Bonanzle as facilitator.

Bonanzle calls itself, "Your destination for everything but the ordinary," and its goal is "to be the simplest marketplace online, with an upbeat community that makes buying and selling fun again." So not surprisingly, "electronics" is absent from the top categories, which include Clothing, Jewelry, Home & Garden, Collectibles, Health & Beauty, Crafts, Books and Toys & Hobbies. You'll find cool vintage electronics, Mr. Dorsey said, but you won't find hundreds of identical iPhone covers, in part because the site limits sellers to 10,000 listings.

Aside from a seller base that actively promotes the site, the company purchases Google ads on 10,000 keywords and is about to launch a display ad campaign on various content sites ("yet to be named," Mr. Dorsey said.)

Bonanzle has no plans to slowdown - the company said it is targeting traffic of 5 million unique visitors by the later part of next year."

Easter is upon us and is the time of sharing a rebirth. As Bonanzle has grown and grown, many of us have expanded our connections across the internet. There are many more Bonanzle sellers and sellers after nearly two years of progress and it shows no signs of slowing down.

Yesterday, I was also looking to produce a site where I could condense a variety of blogs into one main parent site but permit others to incorporate their own blogs/meeting sites as well. I think I have really found the ideal site. I have created a main site, placed a Bonanzler Buyers & Sellers group there

Well it's marching forth at Bonanzle. I hope all Bonanzle sellers are smartly reviewing their booths. Income checks are flowing and sales are brewing. Savvy shoppers know where to find a deal.

I have had two sales since last night and I have a wonderful trade going on. Someone inquired about a mug I had for sale and after perusing my booth realized that I am a rock hound. They came to a middle ground offer & are sending a check with a unique (to their area of the country) selection of stones. Now that could never happen on other venues.

So dust off the clutter and add like mad to your booth. You'll be glad that you did!

As the New Year opens, it's been a busy month for me. Today I took care of a customer's need to view a product further by emailing her the additional photo above. She contacted me via phone from California. She is a grandmother who was helping her grandson on a purchase. Once they connect later, we will see how it goes.

At the same time, I received a recommendation from another seller/buyer today. I don't mix around too much in forums or special events to connect with everyone but they stated that they had watched me for a year. I immediately sent them a Bonanzle email and thanked them. They said that they just had to say something. Wow that rocks! You just never know what your day will bring in the Bonanzle world. This July will be my 2nd anniversary on Bonanzle and 2nd year of freedom from eGreed! Success is a wonderful thing!

My Last Bonanza on Bonanzle for 2009

I am holding my last Bonanza on Bonanzle this year. I won't have another until after the first of January. I am sure time that slots are going to fill up like crazy over the next several weeks and clearly I would love to shop too. I have already started with one order today. I am not waiting for Black Friday, nor do I want to deal with any crowds.

Bonanzle Holidays Are Fast Approaching

As the holidays are fast approaching I am adding more items daily to my Bonanzle Booth. I have also learned that I need to try to condense all my diverse blogs and sites. Eventually I will categorize and hit all the areas that I prioritize on my new Blog on Wordpress. It's terribly busy jumping from Bonanzle to Facebook to Twitter to The 912 Project Fan Site then to StumbleUpon, Yahoo Buzz, Bebo and so many more - but I am going to work a schedule. I am going to use the Wordpress site to hit all the categories then send them to the correct blog/site.

So to all the Bonanzlers get busy sprucing up your booth and get ready for business. It's started and it's only going to get busier.

Many sellers will know where these links are, but buyers may not know where these bargains can be found and sometimes close to home with local pick-up. Bonanzlers are so creative!

Well It Has Been Awhile... My 1st Year Anniversary Has Come & Gone

There's a "Point" I'd like to make. I don't get here as often as I should, but I never forget a treasure or a pleasure. Those who know me, know that I have been oh so busy with so many endeavors but I try to make the rounds periodically on all my activities. Just to update........ I passed all medical tests with flying colors, so I am one of the lucky ones!

Second, I have been interacting with many political - up and coming - movers and shakers. It has been very enlightening. I do not envy them one iota.

Lastly my Bonanzle booth has been keeping me hopping. Whether it has been a local direct sale and lead or my booth alone, I am still one happy camper.

Anniversary on Bonanzle in 4 Days = 1 Happy Year

Now I don't say it as often as I should, but I think of Mark & Bill every time I sign onto Bonanzle. Whether I receive a message, a sale, or just changing my monthly banner, I give thanks for the best alternative platform selling site since Gold's Auction. That site too, way back when in the wee beginning of e-commerce, gave the Monster a run for its money.

Believe it or not, some early sites caved and were absorbed by the eBorg. They didn't have the passion, the pleasure, and the patience to allow their seed to grow and bloom as Bonanzle has. I admire the technique and simplicity of the site, and the magnificent changes (all too often copied by small fry guys or even hamburglers???)...

...and upgrades that have done so much to compliment the selling and buying experience.

All I can say is that it's been a great year and my hope is for many more years to come.

Bonanzle - Opportunity Selling

5 Days from now, will be my 1 year anniversary of cutting the ties that bound by eBay and Paypal.

14 Days from now, will be my 1 year anniversary when I bravely visited a Beta site called Bonanzle and signed on. It was in the works, needed a bit of tweaking, and a few extra attributes and it was rocking. Just 3 weeks after adding some items, I believe 25 items or so, I sold my first item locally and it was a pickup, not a ship out. That was scary and cool at the same time.

It's been a rocking year in more ways than one. I always love picking a winner! Many things have changed or upgraded but what was true then, is true today. A seller on Bonanzle is in control of their own business with the blessings of the owners and administrators. Thank you Bill and Mark for creating such a successful site and taking a chance with so many sellers.

Getting back to work on Bonanzle. I have been slacking terribly. I will pop up a few new items here and there into my booth, usually after a sale or two. And I have been involved with so many events lately (excuses, excuses, I know). My First Fees Paid to Bonanzle

I am now a proud 9 Point owner on Bonanzle today. I have paid my first fees, I was grandfathered in the 1st 6 months. I was member #363.

Yes, I know I am cheap, but is it wrong to want more value for my money than less these days? I am quite pleased because I knew early on that Bonanzle would be my new home base. I am so willing to pay for such a valuable service, quickly and happily. Thanks Bonanzle!

So much has been "hoppin" here. Bonanzle sales are excellent. Bonanzle growth is over 46K members, the BonanzleUp in Mobile has been canceled and members directed to Wichita, but the Live Auction is still a go with proceeds going to St. Judes.

My visiting family with first grandchild in tow has returned to their home state today and I am having Grammy pains. The tornado threat last night was strong and unfortunately several towns here in Arkansas were affected with major damage and loss of life.

May the rest of Spring settle in more quietly...except for the sales :)

I love that Bonanzle has so many options available. My neighborhood has an annual yard sale that I can advertise in my booth for the community. I have also assisted the neighborhood leader by adding an ad to Craigslist, Walmart Classifieds, LiveSimon, Kijiji, Twitter, and more. How great is that? Wild times abound as Bonanzle surpasses the 42,000 membership mark today. As of the moment it hovers at 41,944. With the mass entry of new members, I am glad to see that Tom has arrived. Maybe Bill & Mark can get some sleep, spend some time with their families or just have a day off.

Notice the care used by Bonanzle for it's members. They add personnel, as needed, that knows how the company works and the value of the community. How fabulous is that? A few other venues could learn a thing or two about the personal touch but I'd rather not dwell on the tawdry. I like to make the most of each milestone because these numbers will never be seen "that low" again. Go Bonanzle!

Boom of Diamonds, Bounty for the Dedicated

Yesterday, our family went digging for Diamonds in Murfreesboro. It is the only public Diamond mine on the planet and the 8th largest reserve. $ 7 a day (adult price), all you find, you keep. They are elusive so you really have to work at it. The pic above shows a few of the other diamond searchers.

Now Bonanzle is achieving that same scenario. Bonanzle is the mine. Sellers are like the searchers. They are strewn throughout the Bonanzle like the diamonds. They find a wonderful site but they need to work it to achieve those sales. Bonanzle provides wonderful tools to incorporate the buyer search. As of today 41,000 members know a great find in Bonanzle.

Bonanzle Hears the Roar of the Crowd

For every misstep that occurs on the 'big' venue, sellers and buyers continue to flock to Bonanzle. I guess I had an earlier indicator than most. I signed up as member # 363 on July 14th, 2008. I started slowly, and I do mean slowly, adding a couple items here and there on Bonanzle. I watched membership growing slowly as well. By the 3rd week, membership had almost doubled and I sold my first item on transaction # 109. I was certain this was the choice venue. I went with my gut and I was right.

Yesterday I sold to two new members, one is a jumper from the 'big' venue who has had enough. He intends to make Bonanzle his new home. I also extended my offer to help him in his transition and an invitation to the Mobile, AL event. He was amazed. Different venue, different course. Bonanzle hears the roar of the crowd. Successful sellers sell and successful sellers are at Bonanzle. Buyers also have extensive choices and selections. Many small to medium sellers add more variety than 1 large drop shipper and Bonanzle provides this savvy source to buyers.

Watch the trends, light meetings are being formed, membership will hit 39K this weekend, sales are increasing, media coverage continues and jealous pundits abound. All are signs of success. Well Bonanzle has marked another milestone: 38,000 users at 1:54 a.m. EST or 10:54 p.m. PST Bonanzle Time, last night or this morning depending where you are. Fabulous! Who knew, everyone who has stopped by for a view, to sell or to buy! When you see something so right, you know it! Having said this, many know that the support and friendships made are second to none elsewhere and extend past the buy/sell scenario.

Mid May there will be a casual get together in the Seattle area for many Bonanzlers, where many will get to meet and greet Bill and Mark. Unfortunately everyone may not be able to attend due to distance or circumstances.

***Recipe for My Oatmeal Paradise - Light luncheon fare

Topping
1/3 Cup Plain Oats
1 Teaspoon of Butter
Dash salt
Dash Pepper

Heat butter in pan, mix ingredients and lightly toast for 4 minutes stirring often. Set aside to add last.

Salad
1 Bag of Fresh Spinach
Red Cabbage
1 Fresh Portabello Mushroom
Cilantro

Wash, Rinse, Pat dry spinach, slice thin pieces of cabbage & mushroom, align and add a few leaves of cilantro as garnish or spice.

Dressing to taste
1 lime squeezed
1/2 cup white vinegar
5 tablespoons of sugar
dash of fresh ground ginger

Can be done hours earlier to chill.

Deep Fried Shrimp
Fresh Shrimp cleaned with tail tips left attached
1 Egg
2 packages each of Instant Quacker Oatmeal - Brown Sugar & Cinnamon Spice

Combine oat packages into secure ziplock bag. Whisk egg. Dip shrimp in egg and individually shake in bag. Deep fry about 2 minutes or until golden brown.

Build your salad, plating the shrimp, add dressing & sprinkle with toasted oats. The flavors, colors, & textures are amazing. Great summer dish.

New tool for buyers and sellers on Bonanzle, the Full Trustability Report. Well I can use mine for reference:

"bobbi85710 has done all of the following:

1. Filled out profile information about themselves. See profile.
2. Received personal recommendations from other Bonanzle members. See them at the bottom of their profile page.
3. Received at least five positive feedback from transactions occurring on Bonanzle. See all feedback.
4. Filled out a detailed overview of their booth. See their detailed overview.
5. Provided detailed policies for their booth. See their booth policies.
6. Posted more than 50 messages in the Bonanzle message forums (114 messages, to be exact).
7. Given at least one other way they can be found online or offline, besides Bonanzle. See profile.
8. Logged into Bonanzle within the last month.

There are nine total points we consider when compiling the above list. A score of four is about normal for a user that has been at Bonanzle longer than a month. Very few users have more than seven. See all points considered here."

It's not a sure thing, but it does give buyers a basic overview of their seller.

The one I am lacking is:

"Have they used a valid credit card to pay Bonanzle fees or membership dues? Fraudulent sellers are less likely to have access to valid credit cards. Note that the credit card used may not currently be valid, but at some point a valid card was used."

There's many reasons that members will not have this 1 of the 9. Bill, Mark, I'll call mine out.......I'm cheap okay......lol

Anyway to locate this additional information, when you are ready to buy an item....you will see on the item page "About The Seller" Box. When you see the line feedback row, the last item in that row says "more". Click there and voile, you will see the report. More Transparency ! Kudos !

I believe a week to await a response from PSU (PowersellersUnite.com) was sufficient on the "presto - change-o" tampered posts within the PSU forums.

A couple of PSU/Bonanzle members have requested relief openly in the Bonanzle Subforum today on PSU. Will PSU reveal its current conditions?

I'm sure inquiring minds would like to know:

1) Has the integrity issue been resolved?
2) Has the proper party/parties been banned?
3) Is there a way to repair the damage?
4) Will a comfort level of trust return?

Yesterday, another milestone at Bonanzle: the 33,000 membership mark was achieved and still shows no signs of slowing. It is 9:30 a.m. CST as I blog, and the membership is currently at 33,289. Wow!!!

I have to relay an interesting event or two from this past week that occurred through the use of my "Live Chat" Window on Bonanzle. I had a "Best Offer" item up during my Bonanza(see picture below). It was a great item and drew lots of interest. So many were too shy to Offer. Listen up - If it's up there, offer, there's no minimum. Also a local contacted me for an "Estate Sale" preview through "Live Chat". How cool is that? Bonanzlers love to share information. Bonanza Scheduled Saturday January 24th

Working through stock to see what other goodies that I might add for my Bonanza on Bonanzle. It is scheduled for 12pm - 3pm CST. Sellers may hold these special discounted hours of Bonanzas once a month. Periodically I like to check different times to enable customers to have a better shopping experience and time of day.

I have a diverse collection and have just placed the Stein widget here, but there are 363 items in my Bonanzle booth.

With eBay's poor Q4 report confirming that there's trouble with the Donahoe Decrees, alternative sites are scoring and soaring big time.

Reasons for eBays Failings are too numerous to tally.

Bonanzle passed the 21K membership mark earlier in the week and is due for a quick 22K in the next day or so.

Been busy adding to the Bonanzle listings the last few days. As the days lead up to Christmas, quite often sales will slow... It's so important to have a good selection of product for January. Quite consistently over the last decade with online selling I have noticed a huge spike in mid January through February. Make sure to dress up your booth.

A number of auction sites and marketplaces issued announcements this week, here is a look at some of the news coming out of eBay-alternative sites, including new features, promotions and milestones.

Alibris Celebrates 10 Years of Supporting Independent Booksellers
Alibris, an independently owned online global marketplace for new, rare, and used books, CDs, and DVDs, announced its 10-year anniversary. Over 12,000 independent sellers around the world offer more than 100 million items on the site. Alibris has partnerships with leading media retailers including Barnes & Noble, Borders and Amazon.com and has sold more than 35 million books, music items, and movies.

Bonanzle Tops 10,000 Users, Overhauls Search and Category
Bonanzle reached 10,000 registered users on November 23, 2008, and is close to reaching 400,000 listings. Bonanzle said over 1,000 new buyers and sellers register each week. The auction site recently overhauled its search and category structure, adding a new search and about 26,700 additional categories, up from 300 categories when the site initially launched earlier this year. Search results now display more items per page (48 instead of 20), and the default listing format has been changed from the small-pictured list to the item gallery used everywhere else on the site. The complete list is found on the category list page. The company said the focus of November improvements was on "features that increase sales."

cMarket Raises $50 Million for Nonprofits
cMarket recently topped $50 million raised for nonprofits through over 5,000 online fundraising auctions to over 250,000 consumers. A spokesperson said the model has gotten increasingly sophisticated, bringing nonprofits, consumers and product/service marketers together in a self-propelling network. "The company and the CEO have received numerous awards and now offer a Holiday Gift Guide of thousands of items in 200 + charity auctions." Also of note, CEO Jon Carson recently blogged about the impact the economy is having on fundraising.

eBid Hosts Happy Hour Auctions, Runs $2500 Promo
In the run up to the holidays, eBid.net is increasing listings on their Happy Hour Auctions where bids start at $10 with no reserve. From November 24 - December 31, Happy Hour auctions will be held daily between 6pm - 10pm EST. eBid.net also announced it is awarding a cash bonus of $2,500 to the successful seller that lists the 2 millionth item on its site. Co-founder Mark Wilkinson said, "I am delighted with the pace of our growth and this promotion is our way of thanking customers who are joining us in substantial and consistent numbers enabling us to record double digital monthly growth ahead of the market." The promotion is part of eBid�s marketing strategy to drive new customers to its site and create a buzz about its business.

eCrater Strengthens Backend, Launches New Features in '08
eCrater has 1.5 million listings and 89,653 registered sellers. It recently strengthened its back-end to make sure it can sustain the load during the upcoming holiday shopping season. A recent AuctionBytes articles summarizes new features added over the past year.

GoAntiques Launches Live Auctions Powered by Proxibid
GoAntiques is now running live auctions on its site powered by Proxibid. The online antiques mall had been running "live," online-only auctions through eBay Live Auctions platform, which is closing on December 31, 2008. GoAntiques also reduced the buyer's premium fee from 17.5 percent to 15 percent. The GoAntiques auctions are conducted through Proxibid, a competitor to eBay Live Auctions that was profiled in AuctionBytes in the spring. GoAntiques will be hosting, on average, 40 to 50 live auctions a month. The current calendar of auctions is available online, with the first one scheduled for December 1st.

OnlineAuction.com Clears out Data, Holds Black Friday Sale
OnlineAuction.com (OLA) announced it is clearing out old data on December 1, 2008, and warned users to print out any needed documents (including invoices, sold auctions, and O-Mail) as soon as possible. Templates and Current & Auto listings will not be affected by this process. In the future, all data 90 days and older will be archived. OnlineAuction.com sellers have also organized a Black Friday sale from November 28 through December 1, 2008. Sellers are running promotions to attract shoppers, including free shipping, big discounts and mystery gifts with orders. More than 50 OLA sellers have already signed up for the event.

Australia's OZtion Auction Site Reaches 350,000 Members
OZtion, Australia's second-largest online auction service, announced its membership now exceeds 350,000, with 800,000 items listed for sale. OZtion General Manager, Phillip Druce attributes the success of the company to having a unique understanding of Australian online shoppers. "We have experienced a nice steady growth in our member numbers during 2008, along with some larger migrations to our site during periods when our rivals have experienced problems, like eBay's PayPal situation. Our success and excellent growth in Australia can be attributed to our unique value proposition for sellers, our commitment to customer care and providing a great experience for all members."

Ruby Lane Helps Online Shoppers Gear-up for Cyber Monday
Ruby Lane, an online antiques mall, launched a new lane format and new features this year to make searching and shopping on the site even easier. Ruby Lane allows shoppers to search for a specific item within their budget. The company said it saw trends in the fall season that showed the most popular price points were $25, $50 and $75. Rubylane.com has more than 360,000 antiques, art, vintage collectibles, and jewelry items from over 2,000 individually owned shops.

My Personal Take as Christmas Shopping Season Begins

Bonanzle is the most rapid growing internet commerce site ever. It has been tailored to the interests and expectations of sellers and buyers alike. No doubt about it, it is “The Internet Darling”.

Proof is in the pudding. I have a booth there and I have had:
